If you are using any retinoids, you will need to discontinue the use of these products two weeks before treatment as well as refraining from using them throughout the course of treatment.
Stop using any antibiotics 10 days before treatment.
You cannot have any direct sun exposure to the area you wish to treat for two weeks before the treatment.
If you have a history of herpes simplex virus (HSV) or cold sores on the desired treatment area, you will need pre-treatment medication to avoid an outbreak.
You cannot have any open wounds on the treatment area to limit the risk of infection.
Treatments are 30-90 minutes long, depending on the size of the area being treated. The laser blows cold air to help keep the skin cool while the laser heats the hair follicle in pulses. Use of cool rags helps make the treatment more comfortable. After the area has been completed, aloe gel that has a cooling and slightly numbing effect will be applied.
